MIG/MAG welding is often selected for production work because a continuous wire and shielding gas can improve speed and reduce stop-start time. It can be practical for steel fabrication, automotive repair, furniture frames, and general workshops. Buyers should define wire diameter, gas type, spool size, output range, duty cycle, torch connection, and wire-feed stability.
TIG welding provides precise control and a clean weld appearance, especially on stainless steel, aluminium, and thinner materials. It normally requires more operator skill and can be slower. Confirm HF or lift start, pulse function, foot-pedal support, gas pre-flow and post-flow, torch type, and cooling requirements.
Stick welding is portable and useful outdoors or where shielding gas is inconvenient. The machine must match the electrode range and intended material. Ask about open-circuit voltage, current adjustment, arc-force control, anti-stick function, electrode diameter, and generator compatibility.
Multi-process machines can be useful for workshops, but only when the buyer understands the compromises in output, accessories, and service.
A label such as 200A does not describe the complete performance. Compare output current range, duty cycle, input voltage, input current, no-load voltage, efficiency, power factor, and cooling method. Duty cycle should be read with its test condition, ambient temperature, and output current.
Power supply is a frequent sourcing problem. Confirm whether the machine is single-phase or three-phase, 110V, 220V, 380V, 50Hz or 60Hz, and whether dual-voltage operation is real or only a marketing description. Ask for the input plug, cable length, fuse or breaker recommendation, and generator requirements.
IGBT inverter machines are popular because they can reduce size and support electronic control, but the board layout, cooling, protection, and repair support still matter. Request internal photos or a service diagram when the buyer will stock spare parts.
A professional machine should be easy to set and repeat. Review display type, current and voltage adjustment, wire-feed control, inductance, arc-force, hot start, anti-stick, pulse, memory channels, remote control, and fault codes according to the process.
Accessories affect the real buying decision. The quotation should list torch, electrode holder, earth clamp, cables, gas regulator, foot pedal, wire spool adapter, spare tips, nozzles, manuals, and packaging. A machine with a low price but incomplete torch or weak cable may cost more after import.
For export products, manuals and warning labels should match the destination market language. Product photos should not show accessories that are excluded from the quotation.
Welding machines combine mains electricity, high current, cooling, controls, and sometimes gas or wire-feed systems. Request the relevant conformity documents and test records for the target market. The exact requirements depend on voltage, product category, plug, electromagnetic compatibility, and destination regulations.
Test a sample under a repeatable load. Check arc stability, current accuracy, wire feeding, fan operation, thermal protection, start functions, display consistency, cable temperature, torch connections, and recovery after overload. For TIG and MIG machines, check gas timing and the interaction between wire feed and output.
A quality plan should cover incoming components, PCB inspection, transformer or inverter assembly, wiring, insulation, grounding, output test, burn-in, appearance, packaging, and documentation.
OEM welding equipment requires control over the machine, packaging, labels, manuals, spare parts, and service process. Confirm branding, colour, panel artwork, serial-number format, carton, barcode, accessories, and warranty card.
Ask how failures are classified and whether the supplier can provide replacement PCBs, fans, switches, torches, cables, holders, regulators, and consumables. A spare-parts list is especially important for distributors serving remote customers.
Before committing to a large order, approve a sample, a packaging sample, and a service plan. Make sure the claimed output and duty cycle can be supported by the final production model.
Choose the process first, then specify output, duty cycle, power supply, controls, accessories, safety documents, service, and spare parts. A machine should be evaluated in the working conditions where customers will use it, not only by the number printed on the front panel.
